Educational Stewardship

Project Overview

To enhance the social practice significance of higher education, our university focused on consolidating ongoing USR projects in 2023. By integrating interdisciplinary resources, we aim to sustain and expand foundational social responsibility initiatives.

The projects include: "Local Sustainability: Wenshan Collaborative Support System Development" and "Enhancing Humanities, Arts, and Technology Literacy in Rural K-12 Education." The former expands its scope from Ankeng public housing areas to the Wenshan and Muzha regions, creating local support systems through diverse activities. The latter improves aesthetic literacy across schools in Taiwan by leveraging cross-departmental faculty and multi-faceted organizational collaboration, using parent-teacher participation in hands-on courses.

The Wenshan area is an important tea-producing region in Taiwan. Tea cultivation was introduced during the Qing Dynasty by immigrants from Anxi, Fujian, who brought "Shuangzhong Faith" (Bao Yi Zun Wang and Bao Yi Da Fu), becoming a significant force uniting local residents. Later, other religions followed, enriching Wenshan's cultural and religious resources. To deepen the connection between NCCU and local communities, the university established a Religious Studies Institute and engaged in cultural and religious services to fulfill social responsibilities.

Initially, the project surveyed Wenshan's cultural and religious assets, involving students in interviews with local elders to document rituals and daily life. This effort includes creating a digital map of traditional religions. The mid- to long-term goals aim to integrate local cultural knowledge into in-depth tourism and international promotion, advancing the local cultural and religious industry.

Addressing trends in AI, big data, and intelligent services, NCCU plans to collaborate with the real estate industry. By utilizing web mining and semantic analysis, the project will integrate industry research, open government data, and social media to optimize real estate brand reputation and feedback analysis. Combining economic forecasting and national real estate market data, we aim to construct demand models for rental, new, and resale properties, providing insights for industry operations and government policies.

Additionally, the project plans to host AI and big data competitions, encouraging students to form entrepreneurial teams. Using real estate information as a foundation, these teams can explore research topics, propose industry strategies, or develop entrepreneurial ideas. NCCU will further connect winning teams with international companies for employment or internships, strengthening academia-industry collaboration.
