USR Hub

Project Overview

NCCU's University Social Responsibility (USR) Hub Seed Project is guided by two key philosophies. First, teaching, research, and service are inseparable; social practice should not be categorized solely as a service activity. Instead, it must integrate with teaching and research, while teaching and research should contribute to social service. Second, interactive participation is essential. By observing and understanding community life, we introduce NCCU's human and intellectual resources through collaborative and mutually beneficial negotiations, nurturing both the lives and spirits of faculty, students, and community residents. NCCU shares "work circles" and "living circles" with the community, which serve as the goals for the university's social responsibility practice.

In 2023, the USR Hub spanned diverse areas, including digital and parenting empowerment for new immigrants, promoting the social significance of university museums, and addressing environmental and agricultural economic development in mountain villages. The spatial scope of these projects extended beyond the NCCU-adjacent Wenshan District to include spaces for new residents and migrant workers in Greater Taipei and Taoyuan, and even to the Lishan region of Heping District in Taichung.
