Vice President Wang Wenjie delivers opening remarks, hoping for closer exchanges and cooperation between NCCU and high schools in Wenshan District

The University Social Responsibility (USR) "Xinglong Ankang·Shared Prosperity Wenshan" university-community collaboration project team invited NCCU-affiliated high school Principal Zhang Liping, Director of Student Affairs Li Chenfu, Jingmei Girls' High School Principal Huang Yunjin, Director of Student Affairs Jiang Xinliang, and Wan Fang High School Principal Liu Weiwei, along with Librarian Huang Yuxun, on February 19 for a discussion on collaboration between universities and high schools. In his opening speech, NCCU Vice President Wang Wenjie stated that the university has been working on university social responsibility for many years and has accumulated enough energy to expand to high schools in Wenshan District. He expressed the hope that high school teachers and students will join the USR project and create closer exchanges and cooperation between NCCU and high schools in the Wenshan District. The Executive Director of the project, Wang Xinshi, also emphasized in his report: "NCCU's USR Shared Prosperity Wenshan project is not just about serving the community, but is a commitment to the community and long-term companionship. The partners involved in the project enter the community with professionalism and enthusiasm, striving for the common good of the community."

NCCU’s "Xinglong Ankang·Shared Prosperity Wenshan" USR project has deepened its engagement in the Ankang community in Taipei City. Through four key themes—children and family care, support for new immigrants, legal aid, and assistance for economically disadvantaged individuals—the university aims to leverage its academic resources to assist the community's empowerment. It also provides students and faculty with the opportunity to contribute their academic and professional knowledge to society. This year marks the fourth year of the project, and the team plans to expand the project to educational institutions around the campus. This aims to extend the "talent cultivation" aspect of university social responsibility to secondary education. The cooperation meeting focused on discussing the collaboration model between high schools and universities to promote the USR project, achieving the goal of shared prosperity between universities, high schools, and communities.

During the meeting, Jingmei Girls' High School Principal Huang Yunjin, a long-time Wenshan resident, expressed her recognition of the efforts made by NCCU's USR Shared Prosperity Wenshan project in transforming the community. She noted that the Ankang community has long been stigmatized with negative labels. Wan Fang High School Principal Liu Weiwei pointed out that because their school is a complete school, with many students from the Ankang community in the junior high section, bringing these students to understand their community and contribute to the place they live could have a positive impact on both the students and the community. NCCU-affiliated high school Principal Zhang Liping and Director Li Chenfu proposed three practical collaboration models, hoping that through this cooperation, NCCU faculty and students can take on leadership roles, guiding high school students to recognize the field and related social issues, providing them with opportunities for firsthand observation and idea generation, ultimately producing feasible solutions for implementation in the community.

In this meeting, the NCCU USR Shared Prosperity Wenshan project team, NCCU-affiliated high school, Jingmei Girls' High School, and Wan Fang High School reached a consensus. The USR project team will offer a social responsibility specialized course, and the three schools’ students will use their flexible course time to take turns attending classes at NCCU and the three high school campuses. The specialized course will not only create an interactive platform to spark ideas among students but will also focus on value clarification and guidance. The goal is to cultivate students' empathy for society and help them recognize their roles within society. This program is planned to be piloted in the first semester of the 110th academic year, with each school selecting students to participate. It is hoped that the program will cultivate socially conscious students who can use their expertise to solve social problems and contribute to society. The cooperation between the three high schools and NCCU is also expected to bring more energy and exchange opportunities. If the implementation proves successful, the USR project team will invite more schools to join the collaboration, achieving effective integration and sharing of resources.

The NCCU USR Shared Prosperity Wenshan project team, NCCU-affiliated high school, Jingmei Girls' High School, and Wan Fang High School have reached a consensus to use flexible course time to offer a specialized course.
