The event “Encounter Taipei’s Animal Stars,” co-hosted by the USR Office and the College of Foreign Languages, took place on Saturday morning, September 21. All 60 spots were filled within a day. Despite the rain, 37 participants, including the dean and associate dean, attended and found the experience rewarding.

The 4th Qiwen Tang Liu Family History Conference was held on September 7–8 at Academia Sinica. NCCU President Tsai-Yen Li, Director Shu-Min Chung, and Liu Chi-Chun co-hosted the opening. Faculty and students from NCCU's USR Office and related departments took part.

On September 5, the USR Office joined the Freshmen Focus Workshop to introduce its mission and projects, encouraging new students to engage in self-directed learning and social responsibility.

NCCU and U-Theatre, both based in Wenshan’s Laoquan Village, signed an MOU to offer performing arts courses and support local art and sustainability through Taipei’s Satoyama River Project.

On May 22, the International Day for Biological Diversity, NCCU and Taipei Zoo signed an MOU to promote sustainability and mark their 70th and 110th anniversaries. As key institutions in Wanshing Village, they aim to foster a culturally and ecologically rich university town.

At the NCCU “International Conference on USR and Sustainable Development,” former Minister of Education SE-HWA WU proposed “Humanistic Innovation 3.0,” urging universities to lead regional innovation and bridge academics with social practice through transformative, entrepreneurial education.

During COP28 in Dubai, National Chengchi University hosted the “USR × Sustainable Development International Conference,” bringing together experts from Taiwan, the U.S., Japan, and Thailand to explore sustainability through social engagement and humanistic innovation.

Originating in Japan, the Satoyama concept inspired NCCU and Ryukoku University to co-host a workshop exploring sustainable rural development through cross-national dialogue.

At the start of the semester, NCCU’s USR Office joined the Freshmen Focus Workshop to introduce its mission and inspire students to explore self-directed learning and social responsibility beyond academics.

Known for its historic Lin Family Mansion and role in Taiwan’s democratization, Wufeng also boasts rich cultural heritage and fertile land that makes it a key agricultural hub in central Taiwan.

NCCU’s USR project has long offered general education courses on local revitalization, helping students from all disciplines explore foundational concepts in revitalization and spatial planning.

Since 2019, NCCU has introduced a range of interdisciplinary general education courses on local revitalization, encouraging students to explore community development through both theory and practice.
